Job summary

Greene County CSD in Iowa seeks a Licensed Special Education Teacher to develop and provide specialized instruction, evaluate progress against IEP goals, and manage required state procedures. The teacher reports to the Building Principal and works within a 190-day calendar.

You will collaborate with the child study team, schedule meetings, coordinate services, and maintain district reporting while using iPads to individualize instruction for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution in the appropriate special education area.
• Current Iowa teaching license in required content area.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of special education.
• Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
• Ability to work cooperatively with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.
• Knowledge of technology including iPads for individualized instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.
• Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
• Employs various teaching techniques to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
• Develops and implements annual IEP plans including present levels and services.
• Schedules team meetings and works cooperatively with child study team members.
• Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
• Creates a positive learning experience with individualized instruction using iPads.
• Serves as primary contact for the parent.
• Conducts special education evaluations and reevaluations.
• Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants.
• Complies with policies and reporting requirements.
