Job summary

KIPP Philadelphia Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to manage a caseload and provide direct support to students with diverse needs. You will collaborate with general education teachers, paras, and related service providers to plan and deliver inclusive instruction.

Responsibilities include developing rigorous lessons, analyzing student work, maintaining organized records, and communicating with families about progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • PA State certification Level I or II strongly preferred; if uncertified, enroll in a PA-approved program within one year of hire.
  • Complete all required criminal and child abuse background checks prior to start date: PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, Cogent Federal Fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload and provide direct support for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, para professionals, and related service providers.
  • Deliver rigorous, engaging lesson plans aligned to provided curricula/resources.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, neat and focused learning environment.
  • Regularly analyze student work and data to adjust lessons and inform instructional practices.
  • Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students.
  • Maintain accurate student grades/records and communicate with families about progress.
  • Model and implement school policies within the classroom.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Take ownership for professional development and participate in school-wide PD.
  • Engage in grade-level collaboration and feedback cycles.
