Job summary

Wake Preparatory Academy is hiring Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year at the elementary level (K-6). Candidates must pass a background check and hold a NC EC-endorsed teaching certificate. A bachelor’s degree is required, with preference for Special Education credentials.

Responsibilities include adapting instruction to IEPs, collaborating with general education teachers, and coordinating IEP/ Evaluation meetings, while maintaining accurate student data and progress reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Background check must be cleared.
• NC teaching certificate with EC endorsement required.
• Preferred: degree in Special Education or related field.

Responsibilities

• Modify and adapt instruction and materials to meet IEP goals and diverse learners.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to curriculum and inclusion needs.
• Communicate with parents, admins, psychologists, and staff to plan IEP/Eval meetings.
• Serve as IEP facilitator between special ed and general education teachers.
• Gather data and write/update IEPs and progress reports.
• Complete report cards and progress updates for students.
• Assist staff in interventions for Student Study Team students.
• Maintain student data for grading and IEP progress tracking.
• Attend professional meetings and training to improve practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

Wake Preparatory Academy is accepting applications for Special Education Teachers at our Elementary (k-6) for the2026-2027 academic school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Modify and adapt instructional delivery and materials in alignment with the adopted curriculum and IEPs to ensure access for students with diverse learning needs.
• Develop and implement approved lesson plans aligned to the adopted curriculum and collaborate with general education teachers to support lesson planning for inclusion students.
• Consistently communicate and correspond with parents, administrators, school psychologists and other professionals to set-up and plan IEP and Evaluation meetings.
• Act as IEP facilitator and collaborator between special ed. and regular education teachers.
• Gather relevant information from team members and write, revise, or update IEP and existing data reports.
• Complete report cards and progress reports on each student’s progress.
• Assist other professional staff in identifying and implementing interventions for students identified in the Student Study Team process.
• Maintain appropriate student data in order to keep school-wide grading system up to date as well as data required to monitor IEP goal progress.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences and training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Other duties as assigned.
