Job summary

Brandon School District in Oakland County, MI, is seeking a Special Education Resource Room Teacher to support students with IEPs in an elementary setting. You will provide core academic instruction and coordinate with MET/IEP meetings to ensure compliance with district and state standards.

The role requires a Michigan elementary education degree and a valid special education certificate, CPI training, and strong collaboration with families and staff to promote student growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education required.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement.
• CPI trained or willing to be CPI trained within 30 days and annually update certification.
• Experience with elementary-aged special education students preferred.
• Experience with diverse student and parent population preferred.
• Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create an inviting and nurturing classroom meeting diverse learner needs.
• Schedule, attend and conduct MET and IEP meetings within required timeframes.
• Develop, implement, monitor and communicate IEPs per legal requirements and BSD standards.
• Collaborate to create rigorous lessons aligned with IEPs, district and state standards.
• Work with parents, administrators and professionals to support student development.
• Provide ongoing support for general education teachers and adapt curriculum as needed.
• Monitor progress and communicate with families and school team.
• Uphold professional conduct and represent the district positively.
• Adhere to district policies and perform other duties as assigned.
