Job summary

Elk River Area ISD 728 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to support elementary students with diverse learning needs for the 2026-2027 year. You will work closely with Special Education Teachers to reinforce instruction in inclusive settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minnesota ParaPro or equivalent credential or associate degree preferred.
• Experience with children with special needs is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Instructional support for lead teacher with IEP-based instruction.
• Assist in engaging students in general and special education settings.
• Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and de-escalate behaviors.
• Collect data on student behavior and academic progress.
• Assist with daily living activities as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up assistive technology.
