Job summary

New Milford Public Schools seeks a ParaEducator – Elementary Level at Sarah Noble Intermediate School. Under the supervision of the classroom teacher and administrators, the ParaEducator supports instruction and supervision of students with special needs as outlined in PPT and IEP.

The position is full-time (183 days, 7 hours per day) with benefits under UPSEU. Responsibilities include implementing interventions, assisting with materials, testing, and supporting substitutes in a collaborative

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• NCLB compliance: Associate's degree or 60 college credits, or Parapro Assessment Exam.
• Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supervision and instruction of special education students as outlined in PPT and IEP.
• Implement individual and small group interventions under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Administer, score and record achievements and diagnostic tests as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in devising strategies to reinforce material based on student needs.
• Handle, operate and care for classroom equipment and instructional materials.
• Support substitutes and assist in classroom activities as needed.
• Attend professional development programming as required by administration.
