Job summary

Revere Public School District is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Coordinator for Abraham Lincoln Elementary in Revere, MA. The role reports to the Co-Directors of Student Services and works with directors, principals, and families to ensure compliant, well-implemented programs.

Responsibilities include leading special education services district-wide, aligning curricula, and fostering effective instructional practices.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in Special Education.
• Master’s degree or higher in Education.
• Evidence of at least three years satisfactory full-time classroom experience.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
• Background checks must be satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the building leader and point person for special education.
• Ensure effective delivery of special education instruction and related services at the building level.
• Review and approve Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) written by colleagues.
• Create and facilitate special education professional development for staff.
• Monitor and ensure compliance by the school with all state and federal laws.
• Consult with directors and building administration regarding staffing.
• Facilitate student placement discussions, both in and out of district.
• Attend and facilitate building-based meetings as needed.
• Facilitate the initial and re-evaluation special education evaluations team process.
• Administer psycho-education assessments and write evaluation reports.
• Co-Lead and serve on the BBST Working Group.
• Collaborate with Special Education Coordinators and Co-Directors of Student Services on a regular basis.

Education

Master's or higher in Special Education

Bachelor's degree in education or related field
