Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies for special education aides.
• Participate in training related to special education students.
• Attend planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Maintain student records and audit folders.
• Prepare, use and maintain instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities and drills.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom, including meals and transitions.
• Assist with self-care activities (feeding, dressing, toileting).
• Assist with therapy programs requiring lifting/positioning.
• Help implement behavior interventions.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Orient and assist substitute teachers (Guest Educators).
• Maintain confidentiality; follow safety techniques.
