Job summary

Wheaton Warrenville Unit School District 200 is seeking a part-time Special Education Teaching Assistant at Longfellow Elementary. 3.25 hours per day, 178 work days per year, hourly rate per the CEA contract. Starting rates range from $17.23, up to $23.23 with high-needs assignments and extra training.

Responsibilities include supporting instruction, reinforcing lessons, and assisting students with activities, while maintaining confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional approval or valid Illinois educator license required.
• Ability to work with children in a school setting.
• Experience with behavior management and instructional support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a balanced program of instruction and student activities.
• Reinforce information after lessons.
• Support students individually or in small groups in academics and life skills.
• Implement behavior modification plans as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Observe and record students' progress.
• Assist with activities including recess, lunch and bus safety.
• Assist with hygiene and toileting activities as needed.
