Job summary

Hopkins Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one and small group support to students with academic and emotional-behavioral needs, including instructional support and behavior management, at multiple elementary locations.

The role involves supervising students in classrooms and on field trips, assisting with data collection, communicating with licensed staff, and helping implement behavior plans, with a starting wage of $25.45 per hour, 175 days, 30–32.5

Qualifications

• Two years post-secondary education or a passing ParaPro score.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students.
• Assist certified staff with reinforcing learning strategies.
• Supervise students in classroom, lunchroom, field trips, and buses.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Communicate progress with teachers and licensed staff.
• Assist with behavior plans and de-escalation.
• Assist with self-help skills and mobility needs.
