Job summary

Brookview Elementary in West Des Moines, IA is seeking an Elementary Special Education Associate to support students with individualized instruction and assist the teacher with lesson reinforcement. The role involves small-group work, data collection, and collaboration in a positive learning environment.

Hours are 7 hours 10 minutes per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch; term is full-time. Applicants should have a High School diploma (preferred) and prior associate experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on student needs.
• Support PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) for all students.
• Demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Assist with data collection and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on student needs.
• Support generalization of skills in an integrated setting.
• Demonstrate communication and collaboration within a team.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Read to students and participate in oral reading activities.
