Job summary

Metter is seeking a Speech & Language Pathologist to join Mitchell County Elementary School. The role requires a Master’s degree, GA SLP certificate (SRS5), and CCC from ASHA, with duties including assessment, IEP development, and collaboration with staff and families.

This 190‑day position follows the district pay schedule, with responsibilities spanning evaluation, program placement, meetings, data reporting, and ongoing professional development to support students’ communication goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required.

• Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology (ASHA).
• Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral communication, planning, organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate communication skills of students referred and diagnose speech and/or language disorders.
• Assure placement of students in the speech-language program and develop and implement speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Conduct and/or participate in IEP meetings.
• Schedule students appropriately.
• Provide consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment.
• Report and maintain student data to assess progress and continuation or termination of services.
• Comply with state and district regulations regarding due process paperwork and Medicaid documentation.
• Refer to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate.
• Investigate and use new strategies for delivering student services.
• Participate in professional learning opportunities provided.
• Collaborate with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of the speech-language program into the total educational system.
• Participate in MTSS process at local school level as needed.
• Report information required for local, state, and federal programs.
• Maintain special education records for speech-language students at local school.
• Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-day position. Salary based on Board approved certified teacher pay schedule.
