Elementary School Special Education (Learning Support) Teacher - 25/26 SY

Join Spotsylvania County Public Schools as an Elementary School Special Education (Learning Support) Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Be part of a diverse community serving over 24,000 students across 31 schools.

As a teacher, you will develop and implement instructional programs tailored to students with special needs, including creating and reviewing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and parents to support student success.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide specialized instruction for students with educational needs beyond the general classroom.
• Develop, implement, and review IEPs, maintaining records of student progress.
• Assist in screening and recommending placements for students in the special education program.
• Participate as a member of interdisciplinary teams to design appropriate educational plans.
• Conduct parent conferences and home visits as needed.
• Adhere to all special education procedures and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Ability to obtain necessary Virginia licenses and endorsements.
• Relevant teaching experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Virginia Collegiate or Postgraduate Professional License in a relevant endorsement area.
• Experience teaching in a public school setting.

Special Requirements:

• Training in MANDT methodology for teachers working with students with emotional disabilities.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for instructing students on the Autism Spectrum.
• Training in caring for students with Severe Intellectual Disabilities, including medical and behavioral protocols.
