Elementary School Special Education (BSP) Teacher - 25/26 SY

Essential Job Functions

• Provides specialized instruction for students with needs beyond the general classroom setting.
• Develops, reviews, and maintains records of student IEPs, monitoring progress through report cards and IEP reports.
• Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placements for students in the division's special education program.
• Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide appropriate educational programs for students with disabilities.
• Holds parent conferences and home visits as needed.
• Adheres to all special education procedures and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Ability to obtain necessary Virginia licenses and endorsements.
• Relevant prior teaching experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Virginia Collegiate or Postgraduate Professional License in a relevant endorsement area.
• Experience teaching in a public school setting.

Special Requirements

• Training in MANDT methodology for teachers working with students with emotional disabilities.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for instructing students on the Autism Spectrum.
• Training in managing students with Severe Intellectual Disabilities, including personal care and medical protocols.
