Basic Functions and Responsibilities

1. Provide nursing services at Millington School.
2. Provide specialized care and attention to students requiring individualized healthcare services as assigned by the building principal, supervisors, or designee.
3. Ensure compliance with national and local health agencies.
4. Conduct health screenings as designated by state regulations, e.g., vision, hearing, blood pressure, scoliosis, height, and weight.
5. Develop and maintain health plans for students with chronic illnesses and healthcare needs.
6. Coordinate and communicate healthcare information among students, staff, families, and medical professionals.
7. Observe students regularly to identify health needs.
8. Maintain up-to-date health records for all students.
9. Communicate with parents, staff, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters.
10. Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of students or staff with injuries or emergencies.
11. Submit immunization data and reports to state agencies.
12. Advise administration on policies regarding exclusion and re-admission of students related to immunizations and infectious diseases.
13. Maintain accurate records of all nursing care provided.
14. Participate in health and safety training programs.
15. Assist in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal, supervisors, or designee.

Mandatory Qualifications

1. New Jersey Standard School Nurse Certificate.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited 4-year college/university.
3. N.J. Registered Nurse license.
4. CPR & AED certification.
5. Experience working in a public school setting and with special education students preferred.
6. Required criminal history background check.
