The Elementary School Music Teacher will faithfully support Bradenton Christian School’s mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God’s world. It is the Elementary School Music Teacher’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
The Elementary School Music Teacher will be responsible for implementing a music curriculum aligned with the school’s mission and values, fostering a love for musical worship while supporting students’ spiritual growth and artistic development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Fosters a developmentally appropriate, positive, and safe learning environment while teaching subject matter that supports students’ spiritual and academic growth.
- Develops respectful and trusting relationships with individual students.
- Implements a curriculum designed to cultivate a love for music while helping elementary students develop skills and creativity.
- Promotes worship and spiritual formation through vocal and instrumental music.
- Teaches foundational music theory, fostering musical growth and encouraging students to develop their musical abilities.
- Develops and implements differentiated learning strategies to meet the needs of multiple learning styles present in the classroom.
- Fosters a continuum of musical growth starting at the elementary level, ensuring skill development and a lasting interest in music across grade levels.
- Prepares students for musical performances, such as the annual Christmas concert, while effectively and efficiently managing administrative tasks.
- Maintains an organized and safe learning environment for students.
- Maintains required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
- Assesses student progress, provides feedback on skill development, and keeps parents informed about their child’s musical growth.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, school leadership, and fellow teachers through consistent communication and collaboration.
- Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in education.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church.
- A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education along with a desire to lead students in the development of a Christian worldview.
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith.
- Possesses the ability to demonstrate a philosophy of Christian education and personal faith aligned with the mission and Statement of Belief of Bradenton Christian School.
- Bachelor's degree in music education, or a related field; eligible for a FL Teaching Certificate.
- Prior elementary music teaching experience focused on developing musical skills and fostering a love for music.
- Proven experience with event planning/coordination and working within budget parameters.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build strong, positive relationships within the school community.
- Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Must be able to lift 25+ pounds at times.
