Job summary

Milaca Public Schools is seeking a Cook to assist in the preparation, service, and clean-up of nourishing meals for students, staff, and guests, while following sanitation standards and established food production programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• ServSafe Certification
• Level I School Nutrition Certification
• Level II School Nutrition Certification preferred
• Experience in food service, preparation, and/or catering preferred
• Basic mathematical skills required
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking, writing)
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team
• Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks
• Dependable, punctual, and safe worker

Responsibilities

• Identifies and recognizes safe building and working conditions, and school safety procedures.
• Notifies supervisors concerning the needs for repairs.
• Correctly uses and disposes of cleaning products.
• Follows chemical handling procedures to prevent damage.
• Complies with safety regulations.
• Reads and follows nutrition labels, recipes, and equipment warnings and directions.
• Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, students, staff, and the public.
• Reports to work on time and in uniform.
• Assists other staff with their duties.
• Supports kitchen and cooking duties as directed by the first cook and Food Service Director.
• Maintains a clean and healthy work environment, sets up and cleans food prep and serving areas.
• Organizes inventory, production, and ordering.
• Prepares, transports, and serves a variety of foods.
• Manages lunch and snack shop deposits.
• Attends safety trainings and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
