Job summary

Garden City Elementary in Cranston, RI is seeking an Assistant Elementary School Principal to advance student achievement and well-being through leadership and collaborative administration.

The role reports to the Principal and requires RI certification as a Building Administrator, a Master’s in education leadership, and at least five years of teaching in public schools; experience in site-based management and budget oversight is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in curriculum, leadership and administration.
• RI certification as an elementary/middle school administrator or Building Administrator K-12.
• At least five (5) years of successful teaching in public schools.
• Demonstrated successful experience in public school administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of elementary school philosophy and practice.
• Experience with evaluation and assessment of teacher performance and knowledge of clinical supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Principal with the school’s responses to Federal, State, School Committee, and Central Office policies and regulations.
• Uses research/best practice in improving educational programming for all students.
• Promotes high expectations for all students and staff.
• Is highly visible.
• Assists with planning, facilitating, implementing and communicating the school improvement plan based on the district strategic plan.
