Job summary

Rockwell Elementary is seeking a Kitchen Helper for the 2026-2027 school year. The position runs 7:00am–2:00pm, Monday through Friday, with a 10-month schedule aligned to the school year. Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving students, and kitchen cleanup.

The role reports to the Elementary School Kitchen Manager. Requirements include a high school diploma, experience in high-volume food prep, and the ability to obtain a Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
• Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment is required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals for students.
• Cook and bake food, prepare portions, and perform other food prep duties as assigned.
• Clean and sanitize utensils, dishes, and kitchen equipment; perform general cleaning duties.
• Serve prepared food to students and operate as a lunch cashier when needed.
• Forklift-free, safe handling and storage of foods; follow instructions and maintain a positive attitude.
