Job summary

The Sioux City Community School District is hiring a Permanent Food Service Travel (Elementary) worker to prepare and serve meals for students and staff. You will balance transactions, record meals, and assist in cleanup after meals, while complying with HAACP guidelines and safety standards.

Responsibilities include food handling, portioning, maintaining temperature logs, and interacting professionally with students and colleagues in a fast-paced school cafeteria environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some food service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Capable of working with students and staff in a busy school Cafeteria.
• Experience with cash handling and basic computer systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload food and supplies and store items properly.
• Prepare and serve food following safety guidelines.
• Balance money at the end of the day and record transactions.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist in cleaning kitchen equipment and dining spaces.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
