Job summary

School District of DeSoto County in Arcadia, Florida is seeking a Custodian for West Elementary to maintain cleanliness and safety of classrooms, hallways and grounds. This position reports to the Head Custodian/Coordinator of Custodial Services and requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Custodial experience preferred.
Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, custodial and grounds services for safety and appearance.
Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner.
Assist immediate supervisor in identifying needs related to custodial, maintenance and safety issues.
Provide for opening and/or securing of the facility as assigned.
Assist with lifting or moving heavy objects.
Utilize effective cleaning techniques.
Comply with local laws and procedures for storage of flammable materials and disposal of trash.
Assist with grounds maintenance as required.
