Job summary

School District of DeSoto County seeks a Substitute Custodian to support all schools in Arcadia, Florida. Duties include routine custodial tasks, safety compliance, and facility opening/closing. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a satisfactory background check.

Experience in custodial work is preferred, and the district follows its compensation plan for salary and benefits. This is a full-time position within the Maintenance Department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Custodial experience preferred.
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial and grounds services for safety and appearance.
• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner.
• Assist immediate supervisor in identifying needs relating to custodial, maintenance and safety issues.
• Provide for the opening and/or securing of the facility as assigned.
• Assist with lifting or moving heavy objects.
• Utilize effective cleaning techniques.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage of flammable materials and disposal of trash.
• Assist with grounds maintenance as required.
