Job summary

Emerson Elementary School in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a part-time Crossing Guard to help ensure safe student crossings before and after school. The role is 2.5 hours per week with a base hourly rate of $16.56, and includes annual performance pay opportunities.

Responsibilities include supervising crossings, assisting students and parents, enforcing crosswalk safety, and reporting incidents to school personnel. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and knowledge of traffic safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas
• Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school
• Communicate policies and enforcement procedures to students, parents and staff
• Report observations and incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns
• Wear orange safety vest and carry crossing signs to guide students and parents
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of crossing
• Regular on time attendance required
• Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment
