Job summary

South Bend Community School Corp in South Bend, Indiana is seeking an Assistant Principal for an elementary setting, with immediate start and a contract-year length. The role reports to the school principal and focuses on creating a safe, positive learning environment with high expectations for students, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities include instructional leadership, discipline oversight, collaboration with counselors and teachers, and participation in extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and Administration Certification are required.
• Experience with diverse populations and community agencies is preferred.
• Prior administrative experience in a school setting is expected.
• Strong knowledge of child development and educational practices.
• Excellent speaking and writing abilities; ability to work with individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for instruction and school improvement as directed by the principal.
• Oversee day-to-day discipline, student supervision, staff evaluation, and school operations.
• Confer with counselors and teachers to assist students in completing graduation requirements.
• Communicate student issues with parents in a timely manner.
• Coordinate smaller learning communities or similar activities as assigned.
• Assist in implementing and supervising extracurricular activities.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Other duties as assigned.
