ReNEW Schools seeks an Elementary Assistant Principal in East Chicago, IN to provide instructional leadership, oversee curriculum implementation and professional development, and support day-to-day building administration with a focus on safety and welfare of students and staff.

Qualified candidates must hold an Indiana Administrators License, have experience in Title I and Special Education programs, and have worked in urban educational environments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as the administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal.

• Coordinate development of the master teaching schedule.

POSITION:Elementary Assistant Principal

REPORTS TO:Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides instructional leadership to staff including curriculum, review and implementation and professional development.Responsible and assist with day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of both students, staff and activities.Ensures a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, provides disciple as necessary and enforces school policy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):

·Valid Indiana Administrators License

·Successful experience in elementary education

·Experience in Title I program/school

·Experience in Special Education program/school

·Experience in Urban educational environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Serves as the administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal

2.Administers a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance

3.Assists with staff evaluations

4.Manages building staff including class schedules and building problems

5.Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers

6.Assists scheduling special events during the school day

7.Assists with coordinating the development of the maser teaching schedule

8.Provides general supervision to students; supervisors extracurricular activities

9.Maintains relationship with parents and community

10. Serves as an instructional leader in the building

11. Must possess written communication skills, including the ability to draft, edit, and proofread emails, as well as reading comprehension to respond to those emails.

12. Assists principal in overseeing all school improvement initiatives
