Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Reading Assistant to provide small group and individualized reading instruction across grade levels. This hourly position offers up to 8 hours per day based on availability, funded by Section 31a grant and without benefits, through the 2026-2027 school year.

Required: Bachelor's degree; MI elementary teaching certificate preferred; experience with striving readers; LETRS training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Michigan elementary teaching certificate desired.
• Experience with striving readers.
• LetRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) completion desired.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching reading using district approved instructional and intervention resources
• Use instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction
• Communicate regularly with building literacy coach, classroom teachers, and building principal
• Work collaboratively with Building Support Team
• Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep anecdotal records, and prepare progress reports
• Regular and reliable attendance
