Job summary

Harvard Park Elementary School in Springfield, IL seeks an Elementary Teacher – Reading to support K-5 literacy. This full-time 180-day position reports to the Building Principal and offers salary in accordance with SEA. Deadline August 9, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

Candidates must hold an Illinois Professional Educator’s License with elementary Reading endorsement, plus Reading Recovery training or equivalent, and at least two years of classroom experience with collaboration and data-driven instruction.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with elementary Reading endorsement.
  • Knowledge of early literacy and Reading Recovery training or equivalent literacy coursework.
  • Minimum 2 years of successful elementary classroom or resource teaching experience.
  • Experience collaborating with other teachers.
  • Broad understanding of diagnostic tools, intervention strategies, progress monitoring, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with SBRR/SBRI and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide intervention instruction for K–5 students who score below expectations in literacy assessments.
  • Use progress-monitoring assessments to determine effectiveness of intervention and inform instruction.
  • Use diagnostic tools as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school personnel to set short-term goals and criteria.
  • Inform and involve parents in reading progress.
  • Honor the 90-minute uninterrupted reading block.
  • Collaborate to plan and deliver the building comprehensive assessment system.
  • Attend required professional development and maintain accurate records.
