BETHALTO COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 8 is seeking a Principal for Meadowbrook Intermediate for the 2027-2028 school year. The role requires strong leadership to foster a safe, productive school environment and to support certified staff in meeting every student’s needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a MS in school administration with a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with the Principal Endorsement.
• Four years of previous experience in an educational setting, preferably in a teaching role.
• Knowledge of the Google Workspace for Education.
• Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
• Strong organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall administration of the school.
• Recruit, select, and orient all new personnel.
• Coordinate substitute teachers.
• Evaluate student transcripts.
• Assist in the registration and orientation of students.
• Participate in district-based staff development programs.
• Maintain discipline and address issues as necessary.
• Facilitate communication between staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Participate in district meetings and staff development planning.
• Supervise and evaluate assigned staff (certified and non-certified).
• Enforce student handbook and disciplinary measures.
• Lead professional development for staff.
• Prepare reports for district or other personnel as needed.
• Supervise extracurricular events and scheduling of teaching assistants.
• Attend IEP meetings and coordinate building 504s.
• Oversee alternative education placements and criminal investigations involving students.
