License/Certification

Skills
Knowledge of Oconee County Schools’ (OCS) curriculum with in-depth knowledge of content in field of certification; knowledge of techniques for integrating curriculum, OCS policies, and effective instructional practices; ability to understand the teaching/learning process; ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, and school based staff, students, parents, and community; excellent oral and written communication skills; and effective human relations skills.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years successful teaching and/or administrative experience
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Under general supervision, provide classroom instruction to students enrolled in an alternative education setting. Reinforce instruction to individual students and small groups in a variety of academic subjects and other learning activities, including implementing personal education plans and behavior plans.
Plan for appropriate learning experiences for students based on the district curriculum and provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.

5.Keeps the central office informed of the school’s activities and problems
6.Makes recommendations concerning the administration of the school and the instructionalprogram
7.Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school reports
8.Supervises the maintenance of all required building records and reports
9.Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork requiredor appropriate to the school’s administration
10.Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations; discusses and resolvesindividual student problems and addresses parental concerns
11.Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business
12.Supervises and leads in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program
13.Oversees expenditures of funds, and ensures those expenditures are within the budget allocationfor each instructional program
14.Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development
15.Establishes written guidelines for proper student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary,according due process to the rights of students
16.Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and attends school sponsoredactivities, functions and athletic events
17.Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities
18.Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students
19.Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development throughmembership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations, through attendance atregional, state and national meetings, through enrollment in advanced courses and the like.
20.Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interestwith others in the field
21.Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non-professional personnelattached to the school
22.Participates in the selection of all building personnel
23.Supervises the school’s teaching process
24.Approves the master teaching schedule and all special assignments
25.Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate
26.Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance inaccordance with the Georgia Teacher Evaluation Program
27.Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school
28.Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staffadministrative procedures and instructions
29.Recommends, according to established procedures, the termination of any employee whose work is unsatisfactory
30.Makes arrangements for conferences between teachers and parents
31.Assumes responsibility for the safety of students and school personnel and safe, efficient administration of the school plant
32.Supervises the daily use of the school facilities both academic and non-academic purposes
33.Plans and supervises fire drill and all other emergency procedures
34.Provides for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for the security andaccountability for that property
35.Supervises all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the school’s curriculum
36.Supervises and evaluates the school’s extra-curricular program
37.Participates in principal’s meetings, negotiations meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate
38.Serves as an ex-officio member of all committees and councils within the school
39.Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation
40.Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releases
41.Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of theschool and encouraging community participation in school life
42.Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by theSuperintendent

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands to feel, and/or reach.The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 35 pounds individually and 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
