Job summary

Sunnyside Community Services in New York, NY is seeking a PE Activity Specialist to teach elementary students in grades K-5, developing age-appropriate lesson plans and tailoring the curriculum for different learning styles. Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Available Monday–Friday, 2–5:45 pm.
• Experience working with children in a school environment is preferred.
• Excellent organizational, communication and teaching skills.
• Afterschool staff committed through end of the school year; summer camp option available.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of K-5th grade children with the Group Leader for safety.
• Create and carry out age-appropriate PE lesson plans.
• Submit age-appropriate lesson plans on time.
• Create presentations and visuals for participants.
• Teach at least two PE classes per day.
• Carry out SEL activities as required by funders.
• Assist and engage participants and lead by example.
• Prepare materials and examples in advance for student understanding.
• Assist with planning and preparation of special events and projects.
• Support parent showcases and collaborate with other staff toward common goals.
• Meet with supervisor regularly to share best practices and address challenges.
• Attend essential workshops and mandated training.
• Lift program materials to and from our office and other areas.
• Go up and down stairs daily; maintain clean, organized spaces.
