Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Evidence of meeting NCLB paraprofessional requirements (60 credit hours or an Associate's degree or higher, or passed the ODE paraprofessional exam).
• Ability to obtain Ohio Teacher's Educational Aide Certification.
• Complete 45 hours of training in child development, early childhood education, and related safety topics.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in providing educational support for students.
• Work with students on academic or physical needs.
• Assist in preparing materials and operating classroom assistive technology.
• Assist with student transfers between activities with safe handling of up to 300 pounds total.
• Support students in transitions and during transportation loading/unloading.
• Assist with delegated nursing duties as trained.
