Job summary

Lake Superior Academy in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, is hiring a full-time Elementary Paraprofessional to join a caring educational team. You will assist teachers with instructional materials, support students individually or in small groups, and help implement IEPs to foster a positive learning environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration, confidentiality, and consistent attendance as you support student progress and classroom goals within a dynamic K-5 setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with the preparation and implementation of instructional materials, resources, and classroom activities.
• Provide instructional assistance under the supervision of the classroom Teacher.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects.
• Support students with special needs and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
• Help with classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and other educational staff.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of instructional plans.
