Job summary

North Clackamas Schools is seeking a paraeducator for elementary students. The position provides instructional support, student supervision, and collaboration with teachers to assist instruction and behavior management.

The role requires working with a diverse student population, following classroom routines, and maintaining FERPA privacy. Wage placement follows the NCSD/OSEA schedule, with a 180-day calendar and part-time hours.

Qualifications

• Experience with culturally diverse families and communities.
• Associate degree or 2 years post-high school; ETS exam may substitute.
• May require first aid, CPR, and/or defibrillators certification.
• Ability to work with interruptions and changing tasks.
• Assist, console, and manage students who may be emotional or distressed.
• Follow written and verbal directions; seek clarity when needed.
• Knowledge of classroom management and student discipline procedures.
• Proficiency in proper English language usage (enunciation, spelling, syntax).
• Organize work and set priorities; protect confidentiality (FERPA).
• Work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, volunteers, and community members.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Skilled with office/computer equipment and student information systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and student interactions.
• Implement behavior support plans and track student progress.
• Provide limited first aid and monitor medical concerns as needed.
• Maintain student confidentiality and communicate with staff and families appropriately.
• De-escalate situations to keep students safe and in control.
• Provide instructional support and tutoring in various group sizes.
• Supervise recess, bus duty, crossings, and hallway activities.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, mobility when needed.
• Perform clerical tasks like copying, phones, and records.
