Job summary

Portsmouth School District is seeking an Elementary Paraeducator for Little Harbour to support classroom, library and lab activities. You will reinforce lessons, monitor behavior and assist students with disabilities under supervision.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, confidentiality under FERPA, and participation in ongoing trainings. Experience with behavior support and learning technologies is valued in a dynamic school setting.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and ability to assist reading, writing or math.
• Experience with students with disabilities and behavioral challenges.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
• Work well with a team and with staff.
• Willing to obtain additional training and attend workshops.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional assistance individually or in small groups as directed by the lead teacher.
• Monitor and redirect behavior and implement behavior plans.
• Assist in planning and implementing instructional activities.
• Share observations about student participation and progress with teachers.
• Supervise and monitor students as directed by teachers or administrators.
• Participate in trainings and in-services.
• For one-to-one support, reinforce learning, assist with transfers and safety and help implement IEP-related accommodations.
