Job summary

East Harlem Scholars Academies, operated by East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), seeks a Music Teacher for Grades PreK–7. The role focuses on student-centered music instruction, curriculum development with the team, and fostering a positive classroom culture.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree or higher and NYS certification preferred, with at least two years of relevant experience and a commitment to equity and anti-racist pedagogy.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching music at elementary level or above.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher and NYS certification (preferred).
• Commitment to anti-racist pedagogy and equity.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Demonstrated success in raising achievement for historically underrepresented students.
• Flexible and committed to ongoing professional development.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in relevant educational positions.
• Willing to be adaptable to school and student needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality music instruction and student engagement.
• Develop and internalize curriculum with department and instructional leadership.
• Track and measure student progress; foster positive classroom culture.
• Act as class advisor/mentor during students' high school career.
• Collaborate with team to support school-wide goals and equity.
