Southwest ISD is seeking an Elementary Teacher to provide engaging learning activities for students, promoting their intellectual and emotional growth. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, a valid Texas teaching certificate, and experience in student teaching or clinical practice.
This role involves developing lesson plans, conducting assessments, and collaborating with other educators to meet curriculum objectives. Strong communication and management skills are essential for creating a supportive classroom environment.
Teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. They enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, or required training for subject and level assigned.
Valid Texas teaching certificate for English as a Second Language supplemental.
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area(s)
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Student teaching, clinical teaching, teacher residency (preferred)

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Environment: Occasional district-wide travel
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management and public relation skills; maintain emotional control under stress
