We’re not just preparing scholars to graduate—we’re preparing them to become confident, creative, and culturally competent changemakers. That’s why the arts play a central role in our vision: to nurture the whole child and ignite the light within.

If you believe that music education is more than notes on a page—that it’s a language of belonging, expression, and joy—then you just might be the person we’re looking for.

About the Role: Music Teacher

We’re seeking a passionate, innovative Music Teacher who can lead our scholars in discovering their voice, their rhythm, and their love for the performing arts. From foundational music literacy to full-scale performances, you’ll guide students through creative exploration and artistic excellence.

Scope of Work & Responsibilities

As our Music Teacher, you will:

  • Create and deliver a dynamic, culturally responsive music curriculum that includes general music, vocal performance, basic instrumentation, and music appreciation

  • Inspire scholars to develop musical skills through singing, rhythm, movement, and creative expression

  • Lead and organize performances, school concerts, and community events that showcase student talent and growth

  • Incorporate technology and diverse musical genres to reflect and respect the cultural richness of our scholar population

  • Build a joyful and inclusive classroom culture that supports confidence, collaboration, and creative risk-taking

  • Assess and track student progress and musical growth, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs

  • Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate music into broader cross-curricular learning experiences

  • Maintain classroom instruments and resources while modeling professional conduct and school values

What You Bring: Qualifications & Competencies

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field

  • Preferred: Valid Arkansas teaching license in Music (K–12) or eligibility for an alternative certification pathway

  • Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills

  • Passion for working with scholars in diverse, urban school settings

  • Ability to foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages exploration and creativity

  • Alignment with the ARLCS mission, vision, and approach to whole-child education

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching music at the elementary or middle school level

  • Knowledge of performance preparation, event planning, or music production

  • Ability to play one or more instruments and/or lead vocal instruction

  • Familiarity with music tech tools
