Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking mentors for the Beginning Teacher Mentorship program in West Virginia. The mentor will work with an assigned beginning teacher for a year, with semester-to-semester placement.

Preference given to those holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential and those who have completed WV State Department of Education mentor training; must complete mentor courses before end of mentorship.

Qualifications

• Must have or complete mentor course offered thru WV State Department of Education before end of mentorship.
• Preference for teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• Mentor must have completed WV Center for Professional Development’s mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of assignment.
• Employment term is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments.

Responsibilities

• Mentor beginning teachers for the duration of the program.
• Coordinate with school staff and personnel office to support mentorship.
• Participate in evaluation and reporting as required by the program.
