Job summary

Qualifications

• CT State Certification or certifiability in remedial reading/Language Arts required.
• Outstanding ability as an elementary literacy educator.
• Experience aligning instruction with state standards.

Responsibilities

• Implements GPS literacy curriculum aligned with district goals and CT standards.
• Serves on data/team meetings and attends parent meetings to discuss progress.
• Promotes a safe, inclusive environment for individualized and small-group instruction.
• Develops standards for critical analysis through group discussions of reading materials.
• Assesses student learning and modifies instructional methods as needed.
• Provides intensive instruction to struggling readers to build literacy skills.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and models best practices.
• Acts as a literacy resource to support reading programs for students with special needs.
• Diagnoses reading skills and designs individualized programs based on results.
• Reviews accommodations and interventions for all students.
