Job summary

The Park School in Brookline, MA is seeking a Literacy Specialist to join the Lower Division. This full-time, 10-month position begins January 2027 and focuses on providing literacy intervention, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with teachers to strengthen the reading program.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education or Literacy, have 5 years of teaching experience in elementary grades, and be skilled in multisensory reading methods (Orton-Gillingham).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Literacy required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in elementary grades.
• Depth of understanding in language-based learning differences and current literacy trends.
• Experience with assessment tools to inform instruction.
• Experience with UFLI Fundations program; multisensory reading methods training (Orton-Gillingham).
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group literacy intervention to Lower Division students using data to set goals and monitor progress.
• Analyze assessment data with Lower Division teachers to improve classroom instruction.
• Meet with grade-level teams to develop and implement literacy curriculum.
• Communicate with parents regularly and effectively, in writing and speech.
• Administer assessment procedures in collaboration with the Literacy Team.
• Differentiate reading instruction in partnership with the Director of Academic Support.
