Job summary

Waterloo Schools seeks a General Education Paraeducator (Library Assistant) for elementary settings. This role supports teachers, monitors student behavior, and assists with instructional activities to foster student progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• NCLB compliance – 60 college credit hours, associate’s degree, generalist or specialist para educator license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners OR competency test.
• Computer/technology training as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Monitor and assist students to improve learning progress.
• Provide supervision in classrooms, halls, lunchroom, and playground as assigned.
• Communicate with teachers regarding programs and materials to meet student needs.
