Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking an Elementary interventionist at Academy South to support students needing extra help through small group and individual instruction. You will work under classroom teachers to reinforce core concepts and monitor student progress.

Applicants should have an associate degree or higher, be able to collaborate effectively, and demonstrate strong communication and technology skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching OR network equivalent.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Competency in using technology.
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with teaching faculty, identifies students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge.
• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain a record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide ‘re-teaching’ and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

Days of Service:

202 days (dependent upon start date, 202 is the maximum for the academic year)

JOB SUMMARY:

This position provides support to students needing additional assistance in meeting academic standards, through small group, individual and co-instructional methods.
