GRAPEVINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Madisonville, Kentucky seeks an Instructional Assistant I to support a certified teacher in a regular classroom. This classified position requires a high school diploma or GED and passing the Para-Educator exam; prior experience with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; passing the Para-Educator test per state regulations.
• Experience working with children in organized settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tutor individuals or small groups, reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed by the teacher; maintain records of student progress
• Participate as member of an instructional team including remediation teams
• Prepare and organize lessons as directed by the teacher; administer and score tests; assist in determining English proficiency of identified students
• Monitor and report student behavior according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior
• Perform routine clerical duties; operate copy machines; maintain classroom records and attendance
• Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas and materials; distribute and collect supplies
• Assist in overseeing students in labs; manage supplies inventory as necessary
• Assist students with examples, emotional support, and guidance
• Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs
• Contact parents of absent students; make home visits as necessary
• Ensure health and safety of students per regulations
• Direct group activities and monitor lunchroom/playground activities
• Participate in meetings and in-service training; use PBIS as outlined
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance; adhere to professional ethics
• Utilize technology as appropriate in job function
• Perform related duties as assigned
