Westwood Elementary in Concord, California is seeking an Instructional Assistant for elementary classrooms. The position provides general instructional support under supervision, assisting teachers with supervision, materials, and student activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 48 college units or CBEST, plus willingness to meet district fingerprinting and TB testing rules. This part-time role expects engagement with diverse students and adherence to school

Formación

• A combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, punctuation and basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of general classroom procedures, practices and equipment.
• Knowledge of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of students.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and communicate clearly.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate patience.
• First Aid and CPR certification required every 2 years.
• Fingerprinting and TB testing required for employment.
• A valid California Driver’s License may be required.
• Pre-employment fingerprinting and TB testing are mandatory.

Responsabilidades

• Assist teachers in general supervision of students.
• Administer, score and record routine tests as directed by teacher.
• Assemble, distribute, collect and maintain instructional materials.
• Assist students in interpreting assignments and following directions.
• Set up classroom for activities, lectures and discussions.
• Explain instructions and assignment guidelines to students.
• Support teachers with materials, discussion topics and questions for small group work.
• Address student inquiries about course logistics or materials.
• May assist an individual student if extra support is needed.
• Report serious issues to the instructor.
