Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, TX seeks an Elementary Dean of Instruction to lead a cohort of teachers, set high expectations, and drive student achievement. The role partners with Principals and APs to ensure outstanding instruction across content areas and to observe, coach, and support teachers in implementing effective practices.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, at least 3 years of exemplary teaching experience, and holds a valid Texas teaching certificate or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
• At least 3 years of exemplary teaching experience.
• A valid Texas teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public Schools.
• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a cohort of teachers.
• With the Principal and APs, set clear expectations and standards for excellent teaching in all content areas.
• Monitor student achievement by using assessment data to improve instruction.
• Observe and evaluate teachers and monitor progress.
• Support in planning and delivering professional learning on in-service days and PD days.
• Complete a one-year credentialing track to become a YES Prep teacher Evaluator.
• Participate in district-led professional development for instructional leaders.
• Facilitate grade-level planning time for a cohort of teachers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
