Job summary

Sawyer Elementary is seeking an Elementary General Education Associate for the 2026-2027 school year. Under administrator supervision, assists teachers with instructional tasks, behavior management, record keeping, and creating a positive learning environment for students.

The work schedule is approximately 20-25 hours from Monday to Friday during a 9.5 month term. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with various classroom

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of the needs of children.
• Ability to relate to children of all ages.
• Patience and compassion.
• Basic computer skills including word processing, email, and internet search.
• Professional communications skills, both written and oral, including active listening.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in interpreting and following teacher directions.
• Assists students with classroom assignments during independent work time or workstations.
• Works with individual students or groups to reinforce learning of material or skills prepared by the teacher.
• Assists classroom teachers with collection and preparation of materials for lessons.
• Maintains student records and daily documentation.
• Supervises and enforces discipline as directed by supervisor.
• Assists with medical, health, or behavior-related needs of students as instructed.
