Job summary

Norristown Area School District is seeking an Elementary Floating Building Substitute to support multiple buildings with a fixed location and flexible assignments. The role assists students and staff when teachers are absent, starting immediately.

Pay follows the 2026-2027 district salary schedule, with steps ranging from Bachelor’s level through Doctorate/Master’s+. Candidates must hold PA Elementary Level Certification and clearances; Spanish bilingual skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• PA Elementary Level Certification required.
• Experience with elementary students preferred.
• Ability to adapt to new environments and changes.
• Current Child Abuse, criminal history and FBI clearances, required.
• Bilingual in Spanish Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning where students employ work/study habits which have been clearly defined.
• Provides an education atmosphere consistent with the District’s instructional goals.
• Monitors student behavior to ensure it is consistent with District policy.
• Implements instruction that encourages student participation in learning activities.
• Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies to address individual student differences.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment.
• Facilitates the development of good work/study habits in students.
• Cooperates and collaborates with other members of the staff.
• Communicates with parents/guardians to discuss student progress as needed.
• Interacts with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
• Keeps abreast of best practices in the relevant subject area(s).
