Job summary

City and Country School in Manhattan's West Village seeks a Lower School Floater to support diverse classrooms and assist in curriculum development. The role reports to the Division Director and helps foster growth in language, literacy, math, and social-emotional development through collaborative planning.

The position is full-time, in-person, five days a week, with collaboration across teachers and specialists to uphold an equitable learning environment and strong family partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with elementary-aged children.
• Experience developing and revising curriculum with an integrative approach.
• Willingness to work in close collaboration with colleagues and children.
• Familiarity with project-based, experiential teaching.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Assist Group Teacher in encouraging lifelong thinking and exploration through open-ended materials and activities.
• Assist in developing, revising, and teaching school curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to integrate instruction with social studies and other subjects.
• Support an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with families, students, colleagues, and administrators.
• Provide curriculum updates to Learning Specialists and support ongoing education as needed.
• Model professional behavior during teacher-led activities and lessons.
• Support morning and afterschool programming as assigned.
• Attend weekly Staff Meetings.
