Job summary

Parkway School District invites applicants for the Elementary School ESOL Teacher Assistant 1.0 position for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time role supports instructional staff and students under a certified teacher, performing classroom and clerical duties as needed.

Starting pay is $17.38/hr with 36 college credits or substitute training, or $18.38/hr with a 4-year degree. DESE Substitute Certification is required to work.

Qualifications

• At least 36 college credit hours and provide official transcripts
• OR completion of substitute teacher training with HS diploma/GED/HiSET and translated if applicable
• DESE Substitute Certification is required before you can work

Responsibilities

• Performs supportive instructional tasks under the direction of a certified staff member.
• Supervises classrooms in emergency situations.
• Monitors students during independent work and provides assistance as needed.
• Provides tutorial assistance to students in one-to-one or small group settings.
• Provides practice and reinforcement activities for students as follow-up to direct instruction.
• Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
• Performs supportive behavior management tasks as directed.
• Assists in implementing the classroom behavior management system.
• Provides emotional support and encouragement to students.
• Assists in supervision of students throughout the school day (bus loading/unloading, lunch, recess, etc.).
• Assists certified staff with clerical duties as needed.
