Job summary

Washington Elementary School in East Chicago seeks an EL Specialist to support Pre K–6 instruction. The role partners with General Education teachers, demonstrating lessons, guiding data-driven planning, and delivering PD on English Learner strategies.

The position requires a Master’s degree, Indiana bilingual/ESL licensure, and 5 years of elementary teaching experience. Spanish bilingual is preferred; expect data-entering duties in Skyward and WIDA-related responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and valid Indiana bilingual/ESL endorsement.
• Minimum 5 years of elementary teaching experience.
• Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
• Experience with WIDA data interpretation and monitoring.
• Proficiency entering student data in Skyward.
• Knowledge of state data guidelines and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Instruct LEP students and support teachers with EL strategies.
• Deliver professional development on evidence-based EL methodologies.
• Observe classrooms, model lessons, and provide feedback to teachers.
• Administer WIDA assessments and manage placement for EL students.
• Maintain accurate LEP student data in Skyward and related systems.
• Engage families and build strong school-community relationships.
